Amid this persistant feeling of frustration stemmed from lack of knowledge about this vast city. Knowing which bus to catch, but not knowing which direction to catch it. Knowing which bus to catch, but unsure of which street the stop is on. Knowing which station to be at, but not neccesarily knowing to transfer, which line to transfer to, when to get off, how long to be on the train for, and a general sense of just plain not knowing.
Today, while waiting for the G2 » Georgetown, I saw several bus approaching at the intersection ( 7th & P) where my bus was approaching. All at the anticipated 5:44, at which my bus read to arrive. Frantically I pondering running through oncoming traffic, a tactic that has proved useful in the past, but with patience that only a a lost tourist can obtain through numerous scenarios of being lost in the middle of "nowhere," I read each bus's destination, realizing none of them read Georgetown. Bus 1 passes through the intersection East of me, it didn't even say G2( that was easy) . Bus 2 was fast approaching. "G2" shone brightly in red flourescent lights. "Wait! What did the destination say?," Oh No! The bus stop is across the street, the bus is loading and the light is green for traffic against me. Hmmmm... I wait exhausted... if that's my bus I'll wait for the next.
Oh what luck? That wasn't my bus!
I am beginning to think I can do this! New York here I come!!!
